Here are the best engines of the 2013 model year, drawn by a jury composed of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries.
At first, journalists are sorting between different displacements engines to discover the best in each category. Thereafter, they are nominated under the International Engine of the Year, and finally, we present the best engine, and all categories combined.
The top eight engines:
Ford three cylinder turbo 999 cc (Fiesta, B-Max, Focus and others).
Volkswagen TSI four-cylinder 1.4 liter (Polo, Beetle, Golf, etc.).
BMW four-cylinder twin-turbo 2.0-liter (125i, 320i, 528i, Z4 and others).
DI 2.7-liter Porsche (Boxster and Cayman).
Ferrari V12 6.3 liter (F12 Berlinetta).
BMW / PSA turbocharged four-cylinder 1.6 liter (Mini Cooper S, Peugeot 208).
