Ford C-Max, MPV Ford disembarked in America!

In America, the market for automotive change the pace of the economy and especially the price of gasoline. Many people have realized that their vehicle consumed too large and could very well be replaced by another, smaller without affecting the performance or versatility. This probably explains much of the popularity of vehicles such as the Kia Rondo and Mazda5, smaller than the van but staying more than conventional cars. Moreover, the car segment "C" (which the Rondo and Mazda5 belong and the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, etc.) is becoming increasingly popular in the United States.

Of 2012, have a new niche player, no doubt very serious, the Ford C-Max. This family is of type 5 +2 (it can accommodate five people and can depanner two thanks to a third row of seats optional) and possesses lateral sliding doors for easy access on board. The general lines, both on the outside and in the interior are reminiscent of the Ford Focus, which is quite normal when you know that the two vehicles share the same platform. Also recall that our C-Max is known in Europe as the Grand C-Max. It should also be noted that the C-Max is longer than the Rondo and Mazda5 but it does not seem to offer much more cargo space than the first (1988 liters total for the C-Max and between 185 and 2083 liters Rondo). As against the Mazda5 is far behind (between 112 and 857 liters).

A rear tailgate "a leg"!

Like more and more cars, the C-Max overflow accessories, often optional. For example, a panoramic sunroof, a speed limiter that will prevent a person from driving faster than the speed we find already programmed, HD radio, navigation system, etc.. But the accessory that most impresses your humble reporter preferred was the "Hands Free Rear Liftgate" or, if you prefer, in a translation for the word under-a-word, the "Tail Rear Without Hands." When endowed with this accessory, it will be possible to the owner of a C-Max which carries the key of the vehicle on it, just spend his leg near the rear bumper for the tailgate opens by magic. Super handy when you have the hands CHARGED package. And the kind of thing that, in addition to impress step-sister, may become as indispensable as the electric windows has control! In terms of security, we will find all the usual array of airbags and various aids driving.

Two four-cylinder

Rating engine is called a four-cylinder 2.5-liter 168 horsepower and 167 foot-pounds of torque. An optional engine will also be offered. This is the first application of the four-cylinder 1.6-liter EcoBoost (turbocharged, direct injection and Ti-VCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing). This engine is not much more powerful than the 2.5-liter with 168 horsepower and 173 foot-pounds of torque. However, the torque being available much lower in the rev / minute and a somewhat wider range (between 1500 and 4500 revolutions / minute), its use will be different. Both engines be associated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The arrival of the C-Max is expected to cause a stir in the industry. The quality of Ford products, the growing reputation of the company and the same format of the vehicle should be school. Remains the question of price, which will attest to the success or otherwise of this new family. The arrival of the C-Max in Canadian dealerships is not yet confirmed but we know that production will commence in 2011. Follow!
