Lexus Announces Intention to Recall Certain vehicles in the Canadian market to replace valve springs Engine

Lexus Canada announced today that it has informed Transport Canada of its intention to submit a Notice of Default on approximately 3,700 vehicles Lexus GS, IS and LS 2006, 2007 and 2008 Canada and equipped with a V8 engine 4 , 6 L and 5.0 L V6 or 3.5 L.

On the vehicles concerned, some foreign body may have contaminated a small number of valve springs. In the rare cases where a vehicle is key, there is a slim chance that an abnormal noise or engine operation occurs. In extremely rare cases, the engine could stall while the vehicle is moving. Lexus Canada has received no reports of accidents, injuries or cases linked to this anomaly. No vehicle of model year 2010 or the current 2009 model year is concerned.

Lexus will send owners of the vehicles keys a recall notice in the mail. The owners are requested to contact their local Lexus dealer for diagnosis and repair after receiving their advice. Repair will be free to replace the valve springs of the engine.

The owners can continue to drive their vehicle. If they notice symptoms such as vibration, rough idling, unusual engine noise or malfunction, the vehicle will be assigned to a Lexus dealer to be repaired.
