Volkswagen Tiguan LWB: A longer wheelbase

The German giant Volkswagen has unveiled China has a longer wheelbase version of its compact SUV, the Tiguan.

The decision to offer a new declination of the first vehicle in China is directly connected to the local market which is very fond of cars and vehicles beneficiant a long wheelbase. Moreover, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz manufacturers present at the last Auto Show Beijing lengthened versions of the models assembled in China.

Nissan Qashqai +2 in his sights

For almost a decade, the Toyota RAV4 has reigned supreme on the main european automobile Echiquiers in the niche compact SUV and until the arrival of the Nissan Qashqai, which quickly robbed him the first place in 2006.

And since the release of the 2007 Volkswagen Tiguan, the RAV4 is found in the third position in sales.

For its part, the Nissan in addition to maintaining the pace of sales is allowed to offer a longer wheelbase version, the Qasqai 2 can accommodate up to seven passengers.

So here, the main reason that brings the engineers of Volkswagen design this elongated declination whose mission will be to slow sales of the Qashqai +2.

A new grille

The second generation Volkswagen Tiguan will be unveiled at the next International Motor Show in Geneva. It is expected that this newcomer benefited from simple cosmetic retouches-sponsored a new grille.

Moreover, the new Tiguan LWB already present in China benefited from a renewed grille.

Personally, I would be very surprised to see the Volkswagen Tiguan wheelbase stretches across the Atlantic, but with Volkswagen nothing is impossible ...
