BMW has resurrected the brand i-Setta '

Mercedes-Benz has its p'tite Smart Fortwo, Toyota's iQ and now it is the turn of the next BMW officer came from a small city, which for the occasion will revive the almost mythical name Isetta .

A little history

The little Italian was the PIECE? Engineers of the firm Iso, a manufacturer of refrigerators that at the very beginning of the '50s, has announced its interest to produce a small city car.

Three years later, at the auto show in Turin was unveiled the first version of this car very cute, with a total length reached 2 300 mm.

Despite its lines shaped egg and pavilion bulb while granting him an unorthodox silhouette, this cheeky little quickly made a sensation among observers, but whose success says business has never been the rendezvous. Among his very original features, one notices the present one PLACED porter at the front and opens the horizontal.

Italian Isetta production ceased in 1955, but was able to continue through manufacturing under license in France and Brazil. Thereafter, it was the turn of BMW to rescue the small Italian origin, by acquiring the brand and its patents, allowing it to produce the latter in Germany and in Britain .

Future i-Setta

Unlike Volkswagen and BMW were able to recreate the famous Beetle and Mini while respecting the original car lines, there is very little chance that this time BMW can do the same, given the current standards in matters of security. Here I am referring especially to the front door of the original Isetta.

Personally, I would not be at all surprised to see appear in September at the auto show in Frankfurt, a concept car announcing the advent of this new brand associated with BMW group, if not later than March 2010 and in the living room Geneva Motor Show.
