Sales of vehicles: Toyota GM dislodged in the first quarter

Toyota Motor trumps a General Motors in the first quarter in terms of vehicles sold. The Japanese automaker said Wednesday it had sold 2.41 million units during the first three months of the year, while GM sold 2.25 million. The result of GM represents a decline of 0.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2007, while the Toyota is up 2.7 percent.

In 2007, GM beat Toyota little in sales of vehicles across the world. However, Toyota GM ahead in terms of number of vehicles produced. According to some analysts, the coronation of Toyota as largest automaker in the world in terms of sales is only a matter of time.
