Brabus takes Mercedes-Maybach even further

Hard as it may be to imagine for most, even the flagship Mercedes-Maybach S600 won't be enough for some. And those individuals can now turn to Brabus to customize their limousines even further.

The latest tuning package includes an array of enhancements, starting with the engine. That's where Brabus has installed all the upgrades from the Brabus Rocket 900, boring the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 out to 6.3 liters, and producing a massive 887 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque. That'll propel the limo up to an Autobahn-crunching top speed quoted at 217 miles per hour, reaching 62 in just 3.7 seconds.

Buyers going for the less potent Maybach S500 offered in certain markets can also opt for the Brabus B50-540 performance kit, which offers 83 extra hp and a further 88 lb-ft of torque.

Brabus has also fitted a choice of 21-inch wheels, retuned suspension dropped by an inch, a full aero kit, and new radiator grille. And as sumptuous as it is already, the tuner is also offering upgrades to the interior with special leather and Alcantara upholstery, wood and carbon-fiber trim, and its full iBusiness suite. All of which promises to make the flagship Mercedes even more expensive, of course, but if there was ever an example of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it," surely the Maybach is it. 662 kW / 900 HP, 1,500 Nm, top speed 350 km/h plus, high-tech forged wheels, sporty-elegant design and even more luxurious BRABUS fine leather interiors

The new Mercedes-Maybach represents the absolute pinnacle of state-of-the-art automotive engineering. Nonetheless, even this luxury sedan offers room for individual refinement, which BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, internet www.brabus.com) realizes with a select team of the best engineers, designers, technicians and master craftsmen.

The BRABUS ROCKET 900 6.3 V12 twin-turbo increased-displacement engine provides the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 with an enormous rated power output of 662 kW / 900 HP (887 bhp) and a peak torque of 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft). Top speed is in excess of 350 km/h (217 mph).

To match the extreme performance of the luxury liner, the appearance of the four-seat car receives some sporty-elegant emphasis with BRABUS aerodynamic-enhancement components and BRABUS Monoblock "PLATINUM EDITION" 21-inch forged wheels.

Another BRABUS domain is exclusive interior design. The company upholstery shop crafts exquisite interiors from the finest leather, Alcantara, precious wood and carbon fibers in any desired color. State-of-the-art infotainment systems including the BRABUS "iBusiness" high-tech multimedia system featuring Apple components fulfill the requests of Maybach owners looking to use their luxury liner also as an office, movie theater or concert hall on wheels.

The Maybach S 600 comes off the factory line with a 12-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing 390 kW / 530 HP (523 bhp) and is thus anything but underpowered. However, powered by the BRABUS ROCKET 900 6.3 V12 twin-turbo increased-displacement engine, the luxury liner attains a performance level previously the exclusive domain of the world's most powerful super sports cars.

To this end, the company high-tech engine shop employs the tried and proven principle of increasing the engine's displacement. The installation of a custom BRABUS billet crankshaft with longer stroke in concert with a larger cylinder bore, matching forged pistons and precision-balanced connecting rods increases the displacement from 6.0 to 6.3 liters (366 to 384 cubic inches).

Extensive modifications to the engine peripherals are also imperative to achieve the desired level of high performance. The two production turbos are replaced with turbochargers that have a larger compressor unit and a larger turbine, which are adapted to the V12 engine with the help of special exhaust manifolds. In addition, the conversion includes down pipes with a diameter of 80 millimeters (3.1 inches), free-flow metal catalysts and a stainless-steel BRABUS high-performance exhaust system with actively controlled butterfly valve.

Numerous modifications were also made on the intake side to ensure the engine's optimized air supply. The carbon-fiber BRABUS 900 intake module, which draws its air through an air duct in the hood directly from the redesigned radiator grille, is immediately identifiable. The new intake manifold includes a special air filter housing with larger cross-section and special filters as well as "Gold Heat Reflection" sheathing for lowering the temperature.

Newly programmed mapping for injection, boost pressure control and ignition coordinate the perfect interaction of all high-performance components and modifications. The result is not only maximum power, but also compliance with the strict limits set by the current EURO VI emissions standards.

After the conversion, the V12 engine, which is operated exclusively with high-tech motor oil from MOTUL, produces a peak power of 662 kW / 900 HP (887 bhp) at a low 5,500 rpm and a gigantic peak torque of 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) at 4,200 rpm.

Despite a gross vehicle weight of more than 2.8 tons, the BRABUS super car based on the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 delivers a performance usually only achieved by a few full-blooded super sports cars: powered by the BRABUS ROCKET 900 6.3 V12 twin-turbo engine, the four-seat car accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds. Top speed is in excess of 350 km/h (217 mph).

It goes without saying that the extensive BRABUS engine tuning program also includes an appropriate performance upgrade for the S 500 version of the Mercedes-Maybach. After the installation of the BRABUS B50-540 performance kit, the 4.7-liter (287 cubic inches) twin-turbo V8 engine produces an additional 62 kW / 85 HP (83 bhp) and 120 Nm (88 lb-ft).

To be able to make safe use of the enormous performance of the tuned luxury sedan and lend it an even more dynamic visual flair, the BRABUS suspension engineers developed tailor-made wheels. The BRABUS Monoblock VI evo and Monoblock R "PLATINUM EDITION" forged wheels with a diameter of 21 inches were designed for the Maybach. The high-tech wheels with six double spokes make full use of the available space in the wheel wells of the Maybach in size 9Jx21 at the front and 10.5x21 at the rear. The BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA supply the fitting high-performance tires of sizes 255/35 ZR 21 on the front axle and 295/30 ZR 21 at the rear.

To enhance the high level of driving dynamics of the high-performance luxury sedan further still, BRABUS developed a special module for the MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension of the Mercedes-Maybach. It lowers the ride height of the vehicle by about 25 millimeters (1 inch) without compromising the outstanding ride quality.

The sporty-elegant BRABUS look for the Mercedes-Maybach, which is almost 21 centimeters (8.3 inches) longer than the long-wheelbase version of the current S-Class, is rounded out with aerodynamic-enhancement components, which were developed for the current S-Class in the wind tunnel and are manufactured in OEM quality from PUR.

In concert with the special radiator grille and integrated LED daytime running lights, the BRABUS front bumper, which replaces the production bumper in its entirety, lends the sedan an even more distinctive face. The integrated front spoiler reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds, which results in further improved handling stability. The large air intakes in the BRABUS bumper optimize the supply of fresh air to radiators, engine and front brakes.

The rear is upgraded with the BRABUS rear bumper. Its integrated diffuser features tailor-made cutouts for the four chrome-plated tailpipes of the BRABUS high-performance exhaust system. The exhaust has an actively controlled butterfly valve to allow the driver to manage the exhaust note at the push of a button on the steering wheel. Drivers can choose between operating their luxury sedan in a subtle and quiet "Coming Home" mode and enjoying a markedly powerful engine sound in the "Sport" position.

Customizing the interior to owner preferences is yet another particular BRABUS specialty. The company upholstery shop creates perfectly finished BRABUS fine leather interiors tailored to the requests of the vehicle owner in every detail. This includes a limitless variety of types of leather and Alcantara in any desired color, which can be finished in any desired upholstery design. Just as individual is the range of precious wood or carbon-fiber inlays, which are also available in any desired color and with a variety of surface finishes. The BRABUS 400 km/h speedometer corresponds to the performance of the BRABUS ROCKET 900 6.3 V12 twin-turbo increased-displacement engine.

BRABUS is one of the pioneers in the development of innovative, functional and stylishly integrated business and multimedia systems for cars. Of course, this unrivalled know-how is also available for the new Maybach automobiles. The BRABUS "iBusiness" system offers passengers the latest generation of Apple computer technology for global communication and entertainment with the highest picture and sound quality.
