Mercedes-Benz delivers a new Popemobile has Benedict XVI
The German group Daimler AG owned the famous Mercedes-Benz presented to Pope Benedict XVI, two copies of his new Popemobile, developed on the basis of the M-Class SUV
The former model, always designed by Mercedes-Benz, took service in 2002 at the request of Pope John Paul II.
At the end of last week, Benedict XVI could rise for the first time in his armored vehicle, at the Spanish Steps, in Rome to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
The pope, who will be 86 years, could reuse his popemobile in July, on the occasion of World Youth Day to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The fully glazed cabin and reserved to the sovereign pontiff is armored, precaution which dates from 1982, year of the attack against Pope John Paul II that the era used a convertible vehicle, built by Land Rover.
The Popemobile first developed by Mercedes-Benz in 1930 and it was a limousine Nurburg 460.
