Marcos Ambrose Star weekend in NASCAR
Laureate of the ordeal on the Sprint Cup Watkins Glen road course in 2011, as the Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, Australian Tasmanian Marcos Ambrose recurrence last weekend, winning the victory at the twenty-second race of the Sprint Cup, Watkins Glen has.
This race was spectacular wish, was played on the last lap, when Brad Keselowski (Dodge Team Penske) sent in the rail leader Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Racing). I must say that it was sliding on oil left by another competitor previous round, and was therefore slightly deviated from the ideal trajectory. Whatever, Keselowski was happening in strength ... But now he had Marcos Ambrose (Ford Richard Petty Motorsports) in its rear bumper and, after a few frets and excursions in the grass, Ambrose eventually overfilling Keselowski in the last turn.
What is curious with the organizers of NASCAR, is to see their reluctance to include in the calendar of their star series, Sprint Cup, more than two tests on road racing season, against thirty to four ovals. However, racing road course steal the show, offering exceptional performance as Sprint Cup cars, heavy and unwieldy on this type of track, must be mastered with attention uncommon for drivers to be able to aim for victory. Without taking anything away from prestigious rounds on the oval (Daytona, Indianapolis, Talladega, etc..), You can really regret that the road course races are no more presented in NASCAR.
To return to Watkins Glen, behind Keselowski and Ambrose, multiple champion Jimmie Johnson took third place overall, which combines to poor performance of his teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr (twenty-eighth) allows a Johnson dethrone it at the top of the drivers' championship.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series also evolved on the Watkins Glen road. The exciting race yet, won by former champion Carl Edwards (Ford). It was the first departure of Edwards in the series this season. Team Penske Dodge, driven by Brad Keselowski and Sam Hornish Jr are the full "Top 3".
All these people will end this week at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal for the 2012 edition of the NAPA 200. Besides the Nationwide Series, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Grand-Am Sports Car (endurance race for cars prototypes and GT) and the Canadian Touring Car Championship compose the poster. The first practice will be on Thursday, qualifications and Touring Car races Friday. Saturday morning, the NASCAR Canadian Tire race, with its fifteen quebecois drivers, and the Grand-Am will be on track. The main race (NASCAR Nationwide) will take place after lunch. It should be noted that, as a race of the Sprint Cup is scheduled Sunday at Michigan, NAPA 200 is divided over three days excluding Sundays.
Jacques Villeneuve, Kyle Busch, Alex Tagliani, Patrick Carpentier or Ontario's Ron Fellows (former winner and fifth before the Busch Watkins Glen last weekend) and Andrew Ranger will undoubtedly be the crowd favorites.
