Robby Gordon won the longest stage of the Dakar
Disputed between Antofagasta and Iquique yesterday in Chile, the ninth stage of the Dakar Rally-Raid helped see it much clearer as to candidates to victory. The American Robby Gordon (Hummer H3), laureate of the stage, the income effect is only 5 minutes 58 seconds of the French Stephane Peterhansel (Mini Countryman All-4) on top of the overall standings in the car category.
Forced to retire due to a broken alternator belt after 174 km timed stage in the day, the second Hummer driver with the laureate of the 2011 edition Nasser Al-Attiyah, leaving the field open to other Mini crews who chase Gordon henceforth all but relegated more than a quarter of an hour leaderboard.
So between NASCAR driver Robby Gordon and already nine times winner (6 motorcycle and 3 auto) Stephane Peterhansel win the final should be played. But there are still five stages and 2,613 km race here on arrival Sunday in Lima, capital of Peru. Many things can happen during coming days make deserts and hills, not far from the ocean peaceful shores.
