BMW Serie 1 "Phase 2": First among Europeans
While Serie1 2012 BMW offered in America are already in dealerships even if they are the models of the first generation offered only cut version sports, models of the second generation will begin their European career next fall
As this is a first step of the five-door version, not available to us, which is the subject of the most important changes made in this range since their launch in 2004, so it is perfectly normal for this car either First and foremost offered throughout Europe.
It remains a propulsion
Over the past month, we talked about the possibility that the BMW Serie1 could spend the propulsion mode of traction. But no, they remain faithful to the propulsion. However, I would not be surprised to one day see a high-end version AWD being offered on some steps, including ours.
Aesthetically, the five-door looks is revealed to be mistaken in previous model except that the car is slightly more bulky and it all happens at the front and the back so that we can better distinguish it from older versions .
The muzzle is completely redesigned similar to that of BMW Series 7 and Serie5, although less convincing than the latter. This meme is also the new layout position lights at the rear of the vehicle.
On the inside, it is far to attend a total change of scenery, quite the contrary. The dashboard virtually identical to the previous remains focused towards the driver. With Haussee length of 85 mm and a wheelbase of 30 mm enriched, the rear passengers will benefit from more generous especially in the legs outbursts. The cargo space earns 30 liters and the volume goes from 360 to 1200 liters once the lowered seat.
That four-cylinder engines
All engines offered on the European chessboard car for Serie1 of second generation are four-cylinder petrol and diesel both more powerful and more economical.
All these engines are the new "Efficient Dynamics" family. They are a direct injection while some are atmospheric and others has turbocharging.
Here the nomenclature:
BMW 116i: 1.6-liter engine of 136 hp.
BMW 118i: Engine 1.8L 170 hp.
BMW 116d: Engine 2.0 liter 116 bhp.
BMW 118d: Engine 2.0 liter 136 hp.
BMW 118d: Engine 2.0 liter 143 bhp.
BMW 120d: Engine 2.0 liter 184 hp.
Needless to say that all four cylinders are unlikely to cross the Atlantic one day, unless the price of gasoline has come to requiring manufacturers to bring in American cars driven by equally powerful engines that V6 to be more economic.
