The first Chevrolet Volt pre-production produced
The validation of the production process for the Chevrolet Volt passes a milestone on March 31 when the first Volt preproduction has left the chain of Detroit Hamtramck assembly plant.
These preproduction versions of the Volt has not sold to customers; they are used to ensure that all phases of the production process comply with the quality requirements set by the engineering team of the Volt.
Employees of the chain assembly to fabricate the coming months many other pre-production Volt. These cars are evaluated accurately by production engineers in preparation for series production in the course of the year.
"We have a very experienced staff involves employees in the factory and, thanks to their preparation and training our men were chosen to lead GM into the future with this car," says Teri Quigley, the head of the 'Hamtramck plant in Detroit.
To reduce costs and maximize flexible manufacturing technologies, various components are recycled for the production of the Volt. They come from other GM plants and are installed in the sheet metal of the Detroit Hamtramck plant.
