MINI celebrates its 50th anniversary in Montreal.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the MINI. The first model of this British cult car left the factory in August there at 50: Here is a great opportunity to party! Friday, June 19, MINI and Merchants Association Crescent Street in Montreal, has come together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MINI and the Crescent Street once.
Crescent Street, renown for its nightclubs, pubs, restaurants and shops will be closed to vehicular traffic between Ste-Catherine and de Maisonneuve Boulevard, while pedestrians can admire all MINI products. During the event "MINI Night", the owners of a MINI Quebec and Ontario, will present their car along Crescent Street. The festival will start on Friday 17 h, while festival-goers can enjoy about 50 exclusive MINI models in the celebrations surrounding the golden wedding.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the MINI, Crescent Street will remain closed to traffic on Saturday routiere so that we can relive the years 60, 70, 80, 90 and 2000. The street will be divided into five interactive sections representing the last five decades of the reign of the MINI and Crescent Street. In each section, participants will go back in time and see what looked like a Crescent Street and MINI once.
Each section has also a stage representing a particular decade. Every hour, the public can attend several free performances on stage to give each of the decades. Michel Pagliaro, Honeymoon Suite and Glass Tiger, among others, will perform on stage. Professional dancers dressed in appropriate costumes and performer of age will also choreographies of the game.
