Honda opens a new factory engines in Ontario
Efficient manufacturing facility recycles aluminum engines
Honda of Canada Mfg.. (HCM) today officially opened its new ultramodern factory engines (representing an investment worth $ 154 million). This new facility will produce 200,000 fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engines annually for Civic model in response to the growing demand in the North American market of vehicles with a fuel consumption very low. The new HCM plant was constructed in order to protect the environment and aims for a total elimination of waste to landfill, as is the case in the two assembly plants HCM. Energy efficiency has been improved by 30 percent if one compares this facility has a factory equivalent scale with older technologies. The new engine assembly plant with an area of 28,826 square meters will provide 200,000 4-cylinder engines each year for the Honda Civic; by mid-2009, it is expected that the production reaches 800 engines per day. This plant will employ approximately 340 associates when running at full capacity, next year. The first Honda of Canada Mfg.. began production in 1986. The second factory was opened in 1998 and the construction of the factory was newly opened engine debuted in spring 2007. The company manufactures currently in its second factory Honda Civic sedan 4 doors, the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck and the Acura MDX. The first plant HCM manufactures the Honda Civic (sedan and cut) and the compact luxury sedan Acura CSX.
