Nissan Leaf, Sentra recalled for passenger airbags

The Basics: Nissan North America is recalling a total of 4,520 Nissan Leaf and Sentra vehicles for the 2016 model year for an issue with the cars' passenger airbag. The affected Leafs (182 vehicles) were built from February 24, 2016 to March 23, 2016. Affected Sentras (4,338 vehicles) were manufactured from February 9, 2016 to March 4, 2016. A stop-sale order is in effect until the automaker can repair the vehicles.

The Problem: According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the wiring harness connector may detach from the passenger airbag. If the connector were to unfasten itself, the dual-stage passenger airbag may not deploy in the case of an accident.

Injuries/Deaths: None reported.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the wiring harness connector to ensure proper connection. If necessary, dealers will replace the main body harness, as well as the passenger airbag module.

If you own one: The recall is expected to begin later this month with Nissan dealers reaching out to owners shortly.

A new Renault station wagon wouldn't ordinarily show up on our radar. But this one gets us thinking. If you recognize the name, you may recall that Renault launched the Talisman sedan on the other side of the pond last summer. At the time, we noticed some striking

Here we go again. Another month in the books and another month of record sales by the Nissan Leaf in the US. For October, the world's best-selling pure EV sold 2,589 units, which is 29.3 percent more than October 2013. That makes it 20 times in a row that Nissan can say that last month sales were better than the same month a year before. All told, Nissan has sold 24,411 Leafs in the US this year,

Looking at them in photos, it can be difficult to spot the differences, but under the skin these siblings don't have much of a family resemblance. "The Titan and Titan XD do not share any common chassis components," Rich Miller,
