The resurrection of Fisker, and Bob Lutz Version
New development in the tortuous history of Fisker. After difficult beginnings, the first model (Karma) succeeded - but a limited number of sales - several government loans, the loss of 338 vehicles due to Hurricane Katrina, and its bankruptcy in November 2012, the California company will eventually acquired by Wangxiang group, a Chinese conglomerate. The sale was concluded after several days between Wangxiang auction and another Asian conglomerate, Hybrid.
The new owners of Fisker should resume production of the Karma, saying they succeed in selling more than 1,500 cars in the first 18 months of production. This includes many of the electric cars of course, but also any other project, realized in partnership with Bob Lutz, GM's former boss.
His company, VL Automotive, proposes to march on the Destino, which is essentially a Fisker Karma shed its heavy battery assembly, solar panels and electric motors, and is henceforth driven by a V8 from the Corvette Z06 . The concept was presented in Detroit in 2013, and production is expected to begin as soon as the assembly line of Karma will reboot.
