Canadian sales of vehicles in March 2013
Canadian sales of cars and light trucks were down slightly last month, compared to those without previous recorded during the same period a year ago.
According compiled by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants data, sales totaled 156,680 vehicles in March, down 0.7 percent compared to those of 157 749 units of the same month of the year last.
"March 2012 was the best month in matters of sales, while the 2013 performance is certainly encouraging," DesRosiers wrote in a client report address Tuesday.
Ford of Canada has announced that it sold the highest number of motor vehicles in the country last month, sales of its popular F-150 truck has contributed to the increase in its result.
The manufacturer indicates that overall sales had increased by two per cent compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of 25,092 vehicles, against 24,690. Sales of F-150 have climbed 23 percent.
In addition, auto Ford of Canada sales fell a 6046 units in March, compared to 6157 cars sold during the same months a year ago. Its total truck sales totaled 19,046 units, against 18,533 the last year.
Although Ford has occupied the first place in the standings, Chrysler recorded last month an increase of six per cent of its sales, which totaled 24,173 vehicles, while they had been of 22,703 units in March 2012.
Chrysler stated that it had its best March since 2000. Rising last month has also been on the 40th, from one year to another, in matters of sales.
Sales of General Motors, according to DesRosiers have drop 10.9 percent compared to last year, having passed 22,684 to 20,218 vehicles.
Also marks luxury vehicles have contributed to Canadian sales of Japanese manufacturers Honda and Nissan.
Honda has state of total sales with 12,769 units in March, without hardly change compared to the last year. Its luxury car division Acura has sold 1,728 vehicles, however, an increase of 92 percent compared to March 2012.
For its part, Nissan says its Infiniti brand was realized the best monthly sales in its history, with 1,024 units, up 16.1 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
Nevertheless, sales of the Nissan brand vehicles were totaled 7,437 units in March, down 12.9 percent.
Mazda Canada has stated that it Running 8153 vehicles during the month, a result up five per cent to 7,779 units in March 2012.
Volkswagen has reported sales of 5,884 new vehicles last month, against 5,064 a year ago.
Kia Canada finally announced it had sold 5,877 new vehicles in March. This is a decrease of 11.3 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
