Ford Focus ST diesel in the plans?
In Europe, the market of sporty hatchback car (commonly called Hot Hatch) is more than popular. Each manufacturer must make his place and those who arrive with an innovative idea are assured to reap the rewards.
For already 20 years, VW GTD is sold in Europe. Combining sporting abilities of the chassis of the GTi with a diesel engine was both frugal and full torque. The result is very appreciated Volkswagen enthusiasts in Europe, and we can (perhaps) soon taste the forbidden fruit.
During the Geneva Salon, Mark Fields, director of operations at Ford, says he wants to competition was the VW GTD, as a Focus ST diesel engine. Using the 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine already available in Europe, the new version of the ST would develop at least 182 horsepower and devour 0-100 in 8 seconds or .5 more than the VW GTD.
No release date has been announced (if such a model is created), but with the success that knows the GTD, it is logical to think that Ford wants a piece of this lucrative work. There are currently no official name for the model, but hope that we will not have the right STD Focus!
