Ford eliminates 1,500 jobs and close its plant in Southampton, according to a union.
Ford will eliminate 1,500 jobs and close its factory in Southampton utility vehicle by 2013, announced Thursday the union United.
The union representing the salaries automaker was informed that Ford would close its last assembly plant, located in Southampton and removed a structure in east London.
The diesel engine of the Panther will be produced at the factory in Dagenham, a precise Ford, which employs 11,500 people in the UK.
The announcement comes after the announcement of the closure of the Belgian Genk plant in late 2014, which will result in the loss of 4,500 direct jobs and 5,000 among subcontractors.
