Coda Automotive produces its first electric car

When we talk about electric cars available in North America, we immediately think of the Chevrolet Volt, Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Nissan LEAF.

Our neighbors to the South, a small independent manufacturer we also found called Coda Automotive, which has just produced its first electric car propulsion. Or, two years after its launch in 2010 Auto Show in Los Angeles.

The aim der Coda Automotive is to manufacture electric cars, the cheapest possible, with a range that is greater than that of said other electric cars.

The factory is situated in the city of Benicia, near San Francisco.

This compact sedan is just another Hafei Saibao. For the occasion, the Chinese car is exported to the United States without powertrain.

Once American soil, becomes a Coda sedan and receives its electric motor, battery and transmission.

The electric motor has an output of 134 hp and impressive torque of 221 lb-ft. It is accompanied by a lithium iron phosphate 36 kWh.

The battery can be recharged in only six hours through a 240 volts. 

The manufacturer claims a battery that depending on your driving style, be around the 240 km with a full load.

Coda EV will be offered our neighbors to the South during the present year.

base price of about $ 39,000

less federal tax credit of $ 7,500

less discounts granted by California $ 2,500

After these discounts, the electric compact sedan could sell from $ 29,000.
