Tony Stewart, an unusual way ...
Laureate for the third time in his career at the prestigious NASCAR Sprint Cup, Tony Stewart has realized more a feat to get a crown that last Sunday.
Because the course Stewart is rather unusual. Passionate racing karting and clay, it is nevertheless made known by car, and more precisely in IndyCar where he won the title in 1997.
Happens in NASCAR in 1999, he won his first Sprint Cup (Winston the era) in 2002, then recidiva in 2005. Twice within the powerful team of Joe Gibbs. But in late 2009, Stewart decided to leave Gibbs to go start his own stables, with the support of Chevrolet. In fact, Tony Stewart bought one of the smaller teams the plateau, moved into new premises and strengthened its technical, financial and human structure.
A bet a little crazy because no driver-owner had won the title in NASCAR since Alan Kulwicki regret in 1992. But soon, Stewart put his team on the path to success.
This season, he has not won any of the 26 First tests of the season, while achieving a qualifying for the famous "Chase" (pennant race). But once it started, he needed five times in ten rounds to win the title. Victories that were of paramount importance as Stewart finished the season tied in points with Carl Edwards (2,403 each), five against one gains in making all the difference Ford driver.
