Sales of new vehicles in March, grew by 6.3 per cent in Canada,
Sales of new motor vehicles in Canada increased 6.3 percent in March compared to February, reaching 122,194 vehicles.
By spotlighting these figures Wednesday, Statistics Canada pointed out that this is the largest monthly growth since January 2008, and it is explained largely by the increase in truck sales.
Sales of trucks (which include minivans, sport utility vehicles, light and heavy trucks, vans and buses) increased by 11.0 percent and totaled 60,577 vehicles in March.
Sales of private cars have increased by 2.0 percent and reached 61,617 vehicles.
The number of new motor vehicles sold in March increased in all provinces. The province has the most contributes to the observed increase on a national scale is Quebec, or the increase of 10.4 per cent of sales is about 45 percent of the increase on a national scale.
Statistics Canada said Wednesday that the provisional data from the industry suggest little change in sales for the month of April.
In March compared to March 2008, sales of new vehicles in Canada were down by 17.7 percent.
