Two CAA Pyramid Award Ford
Ford Motor Company wins two prestigious Pyramid Award (TM) of the CAA, one for its new wide angle mirror and the other for its seats from 100% recycled materials. This is a first since no manufacturer had previously won both awards simultaneously.
CAA-Quebec, the second largest Canadian club, was the jury and Sharing quite the consensus that it is happening, road safety and the environment as part of its priorities. He was represented by Mr. Raynald Cote, head of road tests since 1984 and expert in road safety and automotive research.
The Pyramid Award Innovations in matters of security is given for the new wide angle mirror. It has the particularity to have a second small convex mirror improves the field of vision and allows better detection of vehicles by limiting the lateral blind spot. In a survey conducted by Ford focus group, 76% of respondents said they had improved their confidence behind the wheel thanks to the mirror, and, without experiencing the difficulties in adapting their behavior accordingly. CAA-Quebec as for all Canadian clubs, it is therefore a matter of gain in security.
The other prize is awarded in the category Environmental Initiatives. Available on all models Escape, the seats manufactured 100% from post-industrial recycled materials in sparing effect alone some 60,000 gallons of water, 1.8 million pounds of CO (2) and 7 million kilowatt of electricity. Protecting the environment is an important and this kind of initiative issue marks a step in the right direction.
