Folder NASCAR Montreal: Update on the situation ...

Month to the day, the decision on the renewal of the agreement intended to extend the existence of the NASCAR weekend in Montreal is expected. In vain.

We know that during the summer, the Government of Quebec had indicated it would not fund the event a height of half a million dollars, as the promoter of the event, the company SAI Florida, claimed it to reduce its deficit.

Since the 2011 edition took place, and although there were a few less people in the stands than in previous years, all the NASCAR drivers and other personalities of motorsport are expressed in for this sporting event scope.

But here, one month passes and NASCAR has not broadcast its 2012 schedule for the Nationwide Series. In contrast, those who hoped to see the Sprint Cup disembark at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve can forget it because the 36 available dates have already been allocated.

Knowing SAI has not been successful in its grant applications, many imagine that the die is thrown and the event has lived. But there are other alternatives, one of which would be a different promoter ISC negotiate directly with NASCAR rights and thus present the race. Francois Dumontier, with his company (Octane Management) which has demonstrated its know-how and talent management in F1 Grand Prix, is perfectly capable.

To date, nothing is cast in concrete, all options remain on the table, including the possibility that NASCAR is replaced by IndyCar. A final decision could come in the next two to three weeks ...
