Most smaller motor vehicles in circulation does not reach the pass mark in matters of safety in collisions.
The new tests realized on 11 small vehicles by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent organization based in Virginia, indicate that a single model of urban called the Chevrolet Spark car, got the acceptable reference.
The worst ratings were served to models Honda Fit, Fiat 500, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Prius C, Nissa Versa sedan and Mitsubishi Mirage.
In 2006, the American federal agency responsible for road safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a study on the ratio of deaths during road accidents taking into account the size of the vehicles involved, all of the year 2004.
The findings have shown that smaller vehicles had presented the worst results, with 17.76 deaths per 100,000 compact vehicles, 16.87 to 16.85 for compact pickups and subcompacts.
In 2011, the IIHS noted that even if the occupant protection had improved in all vehicles, the largest of them remained the safest and they had a ratio of deaths from lower collision .
