Jaguar back to Le Mans 24 Hours?
Presented at the last Auto Show in Frankfurt, the concept C-X16 Jaguar is it the sign of the will of the leaders of the brand, property of Tata Motors since 2008, to return to the world stage of motorsport? Yes, if you believe the rumor more persistent in the middle of the motorsport industry in Britain.
In fact, like Porsche, Lotus and Toyota soon, which is expected to announce in the coming weeks his return to the Le Mans 24 Hours (as we we were done echo in this column during the summer), the idea of a return in Endurance competitions seems the most serious project for Jaguar. Reportedly, one of the most advanced cases is to bring the track Jaguar Sport prototype at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the last victory of the brand.
It is in fact in 1990 that Jaguar has registered his name for the seventh and last time at the famous 24 Hours palmares. At the time, Tom Walkinshaw (now deceased) and his stables were the heyday of the Endurance.
This season, the American subsidiary Jaguar through Gentilozzi and Rocketsports Team, was present in the American Le Mans Series with the XKR GT category. Without much success, however, reliability having been taken in default each race!
