Audi clinched his tenth victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans
The 79th edition of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans has just taken place. The greatest endurance race in the world was won for the tenth time in 12 years, a prototype Audi.
This time it is the model of a Team R18 turbodiesel V6 engine. This technology is now the ultimate weapon for an automotive manufacturer who wants to give a chance of winning in major endurance races, as his rival Audi and Peugeot do this time.
The winning crew (three pilots: Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassle and Benoit Treluyer) finished with a thin priority 13 seconds on 908 former F1 driver and Champ Car, Sebastien Bourdais. A very small gap to intense competition, marked by the spectacular road trips two other Audi prototypes. Despite the violence of the shock (impact over 300 km / h for both), the perfect security today in these sports prototype cars allowed drivers to get out unharmed.
