For several months, it appears that at Toyota are working is a possible return to the endurance tests, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the Japanese brand has never managed to win despite a major human and financial commitment to the late 1990s.

The fact that the current regulation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans promotes new technologies and the World Championship Endurance races will be reborn in 2012 encourages executives Toyota consider this engagement in motorsport.

According to our sources, Toyota consider the creation of a Sports-prototype (such as Audi and Peugeot cars is to win all-categories) coupled to a hybrid engine, gas-electricity.

Another project is also on the table, namely the commitment of Lexus cars in the GT category. This would involve taking as a basis the LFA model with a V10 engine with 500 horsepower. In this case, the project would obviously be cheaper and easier to realize since technically Elements existing one hand already. This would be to confront the Corvette, Porsche GT3 and Ferrari 458 Italia in other GT class.

All this is rumor at this point. But signs testifying that the two projects are indeed regarded Toyota are becoming more numerous. For an official announcement this fall?
