Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS RECALLED voluntarily
Declaration of GM Canada on a point related to the Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne
General Motors recalls 151 vehicles in Canada Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne 2010 and 2011 equipped with a V8 engine with the starter rope or alternator may contact the return line of the power steering. In this case, the cable could use the power steering line and cause a leak of fluid power steering and power loss management.
This contact can also damage the protective sheath of the cable, and the pipe insulation. If a metal to metal contact should occur, the battery will discharge. If the battery cable sets are separated from the pipe of the power steering, the GENERATED sparks might melt the pipe. If the power steering fluid is spilled on hot engine parts, this may cause a fire.
Dealers will check the routing of the cable and proceed to repair, if necessary, to avoid contact with the power steering line. GM is not aware of any fire and no injuries related to this situation in Canada. The models must be guards unsold stock at the dealership until the repair has been effected.
Any repair associated to this condition will be effected without charge. Letters will be sent to customers from 19 November.
