Ford profit accelerated 15% in first quarter
The American automaker Ford has garnered a profit of U.S. $ 1.6 billion in the fourth quarter when its quarterly sales improved in all regions except Europe.
Ford had realized a profit of U.S. $ 13.6 billion at the same time last year, but this amount included a huge accounting gain non recurrent. Excluding this gain, the quarterly earnings of Ford increased by U.S. $ 1 billion from last year.
This corresponds to a profit of 31 cents per share, against 20 cents per share last year. Analysts by FactSet anticipated raises a profit of 25 cents per share.
Ford quarterly revenues improved by 5 per cent to U.S. $ 36 billion, significantly better than the revenues of U.S. $ 33.5 billion expected by analysts.
For the year, Ford posted a profit of U.S. $ 5.7 billion or U.S. $ 1.42 per share, down $ 300 million since 2011.
