Lamborghini could produce an SUV in 2017
The president and CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, will decide in the coming months if it has joined other manufacturers of luxury on the market for commercial vehicles sporting.
Mr. Winkelmann said Wednesday that Lamborghini should evaluate the impact of the production of an SUV on its facilities and reflect on the best use of its resources in a context of economic crisis.
Lamborghini, which is property of the German automaker Volkswagen, presented in April a concept SUV, the Urus, which could be started in 2017. If he goes ahead with the project, the Italian automaker plans to produce 3000 SUVs per year, in addition to the 2,000 cars it produces already.
Mr. Winkelmann precise than natural steps of the SUV would be North America, the Middle East and Asia, the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia.
Lamborghini says that its sales this year already surpassed the 1,600 cars sold in 2011.
