Toyota sold 1.02 million hybrid vehicles in the first 10 months of 2012
Toyota announced that its global sales of hybrid vehicles (since the initial launch in 1997) amounted to more than 4.6 million units to 31 October 2012, 1.02 million of which were sold this year only (between 1 January and 31 October).
Toyota strives to promote consumer adoption of hybrid vehicles, that in order to achieve its environmental objectives and provide each client has the opportunity to choose a vehicle that will reduce its environmental impact and its use of fossil fuels.

On the Canadian market, the launch of a compact hybrid hatchback Prius c and the increasing visibility of hybrid vehicles have causes a steady increase in the number of hybrid vehicles sold. More than 80% of hybrid vehicles sold in Canada are Toyota or Lexus brand.
According to calculations by Toyota, the hybrid vehicles Toyota1 sold between 1997 and October 31, 2012, have reduced the CO2 emissions mondiales2 (regarded as one of the causes of climate change) of about 30 million tonnes compared to what would have issued of a comparable gasoline vehicles in size and performance.
In addition, Toyota believes that its hybrid vehicles have helped save the world about 11 million liters of gasoline compared to what would have consumes petrol vehicles of similar size.
Toyota believes that hybrid technology will be the central element of the twenty-first century vehicles, since it is on this platform that will be developed environmentally responsible vehicles (plug-hybrid, electric or hydrogen fuel cell) next generation. Toyota will work tirelessly to functional improvement of hybrid vehicles and expand its range of hybrids while reducing their cost, this to provide a range of vehicles that meets the needs of the largest possible number of consumers.
