Tesla Model X Concept: Back to the Future
Marty McFly in would purchase one, if it really existed ... In fact, the character played by actor Michael J. Fox in the movie Back to the Future had to "drive" a DeLorean portieres type "Gullwing" specially equipped to return in the future, and here the future today introduced the Model X Concept, developed by Tesla, a fully electric crossover vehicle.
Tesla brand is well known to all who follow the issue of electric car. After having sells the Roadster, a Lotus Elise with an electric motor, while the recent Model S, a luxury sedan fuel also exclusively electrons is preparing to enter the market, here that specialized manufacturer undertakes the development a new type of vehicle with the Model X concept which was presented recently in California.
According to Elon Musk, founder of Tesla Motors, the Model X is "more versatile than a minivan, more style than a sport-utility vehicle and offers more performance than a Porsche 911 Carrera." This new vehicle, whose marketing is planned for 2014, will be available with a battery of 60 kilowatts or 85 kilowatts, the choice of the buyer, and the battery will supply either a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, or two twinned engines trains front and rear which will add facto integral traction program. For now, Tesla Motors does not specify what will the autonomy of the Model X, but some echoes suggest a power range from 130 to 160 km, while others evoke rather numbers ranging from 320 to 430 km. This is a vagueness which reigns in terms of autonomy envisaged, at least for now. Cote price, it is about a scale ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 U.S. dollars depending on the version.
Dimension style, the Model X relies heavily on its portieres type "Gullwing", but we must recognize that this unconventional configuration is not very practical since it will be impossible to fix a luggage rack or a bike rack or has skis on the roof, which clashes a bit with the first vocation of the vehicle which is to offer buyers the equivalent "zero emissions" of a sport utility vehicle ...
