Toyota will increase its North American output sooner than expected
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) will enhance sooner than expected as a result of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11 production. Starting in June, overall North American production will reach about 70 percent of the normal level, whereas it was only about 30 percent in May.
The improvement of the availability of parts from Japan is the result of cons-measures implementations by key suppliers. Toyota will continue to evaluate the production of each individual model on a monthly basis in order to return to a normal level of production by the end of the year.
The models that will return 100 percent of their level of production in June are Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, Sequoia, Sienna and Venza.
In Canada, the Corolla, Matrix and RX saw their production increase sooner than expected previously. The assembly line of Corolla and Matrix models reach a production level of 100 percent, while the Lexus RX 350 will increase to 60 percent. RAV4 production will be 25 percent of normal levels. In Canada, the Toyota Corolla and the Lexus RX 350 are the most sold brand of their respective vehicles.
