Toyota announces voluntary recall campaign XIth

Some vehicles Toyota Avalon, Highlander and Lexus GS 300, IS 250, IS 350 AND RX 330 recalled to replace a seal master brake cylinder.

Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today announced its intention to conduct a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 28,700 vehicles - Toyota Avalon 2005 2006 Toyota Highlander (Non Hybrid) and Lexus RX 330 2004 Lexus GS 300 2006 , IS 250 and IS 350 marketed in Canada in 2006 following the discovery that a small amount of brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, causing the ignition warning light brake system.

The brake fluid used by Toyota during the assembly of vehicles marketed in Canada contains polymers. The polymers act as lubricants on certain components of the braking system. If brake fluid used during maintenance of the vehicle does not contain such polymers or contains too little, part of the internal rubber seal (cup master cylinder brake) located at the end of the piston master- brake cylinder could dry and bend under the effect of the movement of the piston. If this occurs, a small amount of brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder to the brake booster, resulting in illumination of the warning light brake system.

If the brake system warning light illuminates and if the vehicle continues to roll without that we have filled the tank of brake fluid from the master cylinder, the driver will begin to notice that the brake pedal is spongy or soft and braking performance may gradually degrade.

The owners of the vehicles keys will be notified by first class mail in mid-November 2010. Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace, at no cost to the owners of vehicles, the cup of the brake master cylinder cup with a better design.
