One rarely hears of engines of the year. However, AC does exist, obviously less publicized, though easier to access via the various websites on the tanks. In Europe, this approach is much more robust, especially by a public that has always pay more attention to the choice of engine that propels the car coveted, while in America, it first puts the emphasis on style.
The International Engine of the Year saw the light in 1999 and is a collaboration of 72 automotive journalists from thirty countries. Four of them represent Canada, including our colleague Marc Lachapelle, all sponsored by the Company UKIP Media & Events Automotive Magazines. This is the most important British group whose publications in matters of engines and related technologies to the automotive, make reference. It goes without saying that their approach is totally footloose meet different manufacturers and their major suppliers.
This year, 66 engines are divided into eight distinct categories that clashed.
Among the most coveted titles, we find that of the International Engine of the Year, Best New Engine of the year, followed by the most ecological engine and the most powerful engine of the year.
Here are the winners for the year 2010
The International Engine of the Year: Volkswagen 4L 1.4 li TSI twin-turbo 180 hp.
Best new engine: Fiat 4L 1.4 li Multiair turbo and 170 hp.
Most ecological Engine: Toyota 1.8 4L li hybrid 98 hp
The most powerful engine: Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.2 V8 571 hp li.
Engine under 1.0 liter: Toyota 3L 1.0 li 68 cv.
Engine between 1.0 and 1.4-liter: Volkswagen 1.4 4L li TSI twin-turbo 160 hp.
Engine between 1.4 and 1.8 liter BMW / PSA 1.6 4L li, turbo 175 hp.
Engine between 1.8 and 2.0-liter: BMW 2.0 diesel 4L li, bi-turbo 204 hp.
Engine between 2.0 and 2.5 liters Audi 5L 2.5 li, turbo 340 hp.
Engine between 2.5 and 3.0 liters: BMW 6L 3.0 li, bi-turbo 306 hp.
Engine between 3.0 and 4.0 liter BMW V8 4.0 li 420 hp.

This selection of the best engines of 2010, we demonstrated that the motorist has never been as affordable choices that are available to him and that regardless of the size of its portfolio.
And it does not matter, whether it is a 1.0 liter engine only 68 horses, a hybrid of less than 100 horsepower or a 5.0-liter V8 thundering who issues beyond 507 horses.
