The turbocharged 2.5-liter Subaru named International Engine of the year
The turbocharged 2.5-liter engine Subaru "boxer" was named International Engine of the Year 2008 in the 2.0-liter to 2.5-liter category. This is the second time in three years that Subaru deserves this prestigious honor (previously in 2006).
The 65 judges on the selection committee of the International Engine of the year 2008 was first impressed by the power of the 4-cylinder boxer engine has 305 horsepower horizontally opposed developping found in the Subaru Impreza WRX STI but they also been the performance of the turbocharged 2.5-liter that develops 224 hp in the Subaru Forester. The engine is also found in the Subaru WRX 224 hp as well as atmospheric version of 170 hp in the Impreza 2.5i and the Subaru Forester. According to the judge Nikos Kounitis, "this powerful and enjoyable engine to drive justifies the continuing bias towards Subaru boxer engines." The Subaru Boxer engine is produced in several versions for different markets around the world, including formats 4 cylinder 1.5 liter, 2.0 liter, 2.5 liter and 6 cylinder versions in cylinder 3 , 0 liters and 3.6 liters. In addition, the company recently went on sale in Europe first boxer diesel engine in the world.
