Toyota Sequoia 2003 1500 Reminder vehicles in Canada
Toyota Canada announces voluntary safety recall on some vehicles Sequoia model year 2003 to improve the control system of the stability of the vehicle
Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) announced that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall on approximately 1,500 Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicles from model year 2003 to improve the program logic in the control system of stability Vehicle (VSC).
The VSC system can help control loss of traction in turns due to tire slippage front or rear cornering. In rare cases, due to improper logic programming skid control ECU, the control system of the vehicle stability (VSC) could activate at low speed (about 14 km / h) for a few seconds after acceleration from the stop and, in consequence, the vehicle could accelerate slower than expected by the driver. No incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada or the U.S. in connection with this situation.
Toyota is voluntarily recalling this as part of our commitment to investigate customer complaints more vigorous manner and respond quickly to problems identified in our vehicles.
Toyota has implemented a change in production for the 2003 model year and has published a Technical Service Bulletin to reply to this when it was originally identified in the fall of 2003. Since that time Toyota replaced on an ongoing basis the engine control unit (ECU) control skid in Sequoia vehicles affected by this situation.
Dealers will relocate the skid control ECU. Toyota Canada will notify all customers affected by this recall by first class mail at the end of May.
