Toyota Sienna 1998 2010: Recall 270,000 vehicles in Canada
Toyota Canada announces voluntary recall of certain vehicles Sienna model years 1998-2010 to reply to corrosion in the spare tire carrier.
Toyota Canada announces voluntary recall involving approximately 270,000 Toyota vehicles Sienna has two drive wheels first or second generation or frequent use of road salts may cause excessive corrosion of the spare tire carrier. In a continuous and prolonged use under such conditions, there is a potential risk that the cable holder spare tire makes default and the spare tire is separated from the vehicle causing a crash or become a hazard to vehicles that follow.
Toyota Canada is asking owners of affected vehicles to bring their vehicles to their local dealer for an inspection to assess the condition of the spare tire carrier and the potential risk of separation. The wheel drive vehicles are not affected by this voluntary recall because they are equipped with flat tires, instead of a spare tire.
All keys owners receive a formal notification by first class mail beginning in May 2010 on the campaign. After the hotfix is developed, customers will receive a new notification and will be notified of the availability of the patch.
The 2011 Sienna is not affected by this recall safety and no other Lexus or Toyota vehicle is key.
