Beijing, the Salon d'auto industry in full boil
China is now the country of all the excesses and the global automotive industry is very conscious. Besides the latter, is given an appointment at the international auto show in Beijing, as a counterweight to local manufacturers who intend to take advantage of global media coverage of this event.
Impressive sales increases
In 2007, it sold beyond 5.5 million cars and around 3 million commercial vehicles, representing increases sales by 15% compared to the figures of the previous year. And it is far from finished, since last January, increases in sales already reached 21%. Thus, China is the 2nd largest automobile market in the world, behind the U.S. and ahead of Germany.
Salon takes a quick gallon
The latter, who is this year in its 10th edition, is held in a new complex, the China International Exhibition Center, huge and ultra modern. It will once completed, beyond the 670,000 square meters of so-called multifunctional spaces, over 400,000 square meters are planned as spaces of exposure. Salon Beijing welcomes nearly 1,500 exhibitors, of all kinds, and assist from global and local automakers, those who benefit most from the media coverage of the show. Thus, more than 225 manufacturers benefit of holding this exhibition, in order to unveil a hundred novelties, including thirty Asian and World Premieres, plus the presentation of fifty vehicles concept. Note that several American, European and Asian manufacturers (other than Chinese) have ads producing new models in Chinese soil.
The Americans were emancipated in Beijing
General-Motors wins readily in Chinese soil, it loses in North America. The name Buick is almost considered a the icon below and Excelle model, is a hit in sales. Ford took the opportunity to walk its new Fiesta european models, which will soon become distributed worldwide cars. For its part, Chrysler shows rather shy, without ignoring the importance of this work to discover, including its association with Chery.
The Europeans, accustomed to Asian salons
Fidele Salon Beijing for several years, the manufacturer Audi Unveils World Premiere us, its compact utility vehicle, the Q5. The latter is a highly anticipated vehicle on the European and American markets. Ditto for Porsche also announced a World Premiere, the return of its popular Turbo S Cayenne model release. Mercedes-Benz brings its compact SUV GLK and the Czechoslovak manufacturer Skoda Fabia and Octavia presents its models. Volkswagen announced the production in China of its compact model Lavida.
The Japanese and South Koreans embark on the adventure
All Japanese manufacturers present is Nissan benefited from the enhanced media coverage given numerous presentations. Among them, we find the luxury sedan Nissan Teana and a new compact multi-segment vehicle, the Livina based on the Nissan Versa. Mitsubishi announced the production in China of some versions of its models Galant and Pajero. Chinese Mazda6 is finally unveiled. The South Korean manufacturer Hyundai has unveiled at Beijing, its Elantra model 2009.
