Citroen and PureTech engines: a new Advanced Technology in Creative

Targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 has involved the development of new technologies. The engines represent the cornerstone of this reduction. The launch of a new generation of engines is also an opportunity to integrate many progressive, beneficial for all: environmental, agrement of use and reduced cost has use are key. The arrival of the new family of petrol engines PureTech within the Citroen range is an additional proof of Creative Technology Brand.

Incorporating the latest technologies available, this family offers compared to the previous generation, comparable powers or up linked to fuel consumption and emissions of greenhouse gas emissions much lower, on the order of 25%. Available on several lines Brand (CITROEN C3, DS3 and C-Elysee), this new engine family is manufactured on site Tremery, France.

The specifications of the new generation of engines PureTech has imposed a real breakthrough in terms of mechanical design. Indeed, with the objective of a sharp reduction in pollutant emission and fuel consumption, the project would also reduce the total mass of the assembly while increasing its compactness. Finally, a specific power of 50 kW per liter of finished describe the contours of the project.

Several different displacements have been developed and are now two proposed (or marketed): 1 liter and 1.2 liters with outputs between 68 and 82 bhp EEC (50 to 60 kW). According to the models and tires montes, consumption in the combined cycle of this new family of engines are within a range of 4.3 to 4.6 l/100 km, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 99 to 107 g / km. The reduction is performed on the values of the order of 25% compared to the previous generation engines.

Perfectly adapted to the performance expectations:

2 versions of the engine PureTech are already available:

PureTech VTi 68: lower consumption of 1.6 liters per 100 km

Proposed on the C3, the VTi 68 version has a cylinder 999 cm3.

Maximum power of 50 kW 6000 rpm / min increased by 6 kW (10 hp) compared to the 1.1-liter engine replaced the cylinder.

Advances are sensitive in all areas: +8 km / h maximum speed improvement of 2.3 s on the 0 to 100 km / h, reduced consumption of 4.3 l/100 km over the combined cycle , a gain of 1.6 l/100 km (- 27%). And reduced CO2 emissions of 38 g to reach 99g / km.

PureTech VTi 82 economy and high level services

Available on the C3 and DS3 VTi 82 cylinder engine delivers 1199 cm3.

Its maximum power is 60 kW spring 5750 r / min, a gain of 6 kW (9 hp) compared to the 1.4-liter engine replaced.

Here also, the key advances are: + 11 km / h to the maximum speed decrease of 1.9 s on the 0 to 100 km / h and reduction in consumption of 1.5 l/100km (- 25% compared to the previous generation) to 4.5 l/100 km. The CO2 emissions are reduced from 35 g to 104 g / km.

Another version of the same cylinder (VTi 72) is already available on the new C-Elysee.
