Each of the four americaines trademarks of General Motors harvest an award for best vehicle of a category in the survey on initial quality by JD Power and Associates 2012, which has allowed GM to establish the best business results compared to the industry average in the twenty-six year history of this measure of recognized quality.

The study on the initial quality of 2012 is based on information collected from more than 74,000 owners and lessees of new 2012 vehicles at least 90 days after the purchase of their vehicle. The study includes a 228 point questionnaire developed to provide manufacturers with the necessary information to quickly identify problems and improve the quality of vehicles.
