GM Canada recalls 40,029 cars Malibu, G6 and Aura

The American manufacturer has announced the recall of 40,029 cars in Canada.

These are the models:

Chevrolet Malibu 2008 2010;

Pontiac G6 2008 2010;

Saturn Aura 2007 2010.

These cars are equipped with an automatic box, some parts may crack without warning and cause a derailment between different reports.

The details of the recall from Transport Canada

On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic gearbox, spare lock cable gearshift could break suddenly. If this happens, the gearbox may not be in PARK position and could not be in the same report that indicates the gear lever.

The driver would be able to remove the key from the contact, but the locks may not unlock automatically and the indicator light is not lit PARK. The driver may not be able to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle could be set in motion once the driver is released, which could cause an accident that could damage material property or personal injury.

Correction: Dealers will install a retainer gearshift cable, or replace the shift cable as necessary.
